Neck-Weasels

These long, furry creatures can be trained to hang limply around a person's neck. In Teleleli, carrying a neck-weasel in this way is considered most fashionable.

  1. Has anyone ever substituted a tame neck weasel for a 'Manchurian Candidate' neck weasel as a means of assassinating the owner? The 'Manchurian Candidate' neck weasel will hang around the owner's neck in the usual docile fashion until a 'trigger' is introduced in the vicinity of the weasel and its wearer (the trigger can be a whistle of a certain pitch, a smell... even a temperature). As soon as the Manchurian Candidate Neck Weasel is 'triggered,' it will burrow into the neck of the wearer, severing the jugular vein and usually killing the wearer unless immediate aid in the form of first ridding the wearer of the weasel and then providing appropriate care is available.
Obviously, the trainers and sellers of neck weasels are trying to keep this story under wraps... saying it is just rumor... and maybe they are right... but do you want to take that chance?
