Silicate Spiders

These gigantic creatures live anywhere in the Celestial Realm where two planetary bodies may be found close together.

They trap spacecraft by building webs between two planets.

  2. They're better than Silicone Rubber Spiders though.

  3. Nice. Inspired by the Plutonian natives in Stephen Baxter's "Vacuum Diagrams"?

  5. Thanks everyone. The inspiration was a phrase from Anne McCaffrey's 'The Crystal Singer'. One of the characters insults another, saying "Silicate spider! Crystal cuckoo!" (or at least that's how I remember it).
